시선

시선

 

어제 손자 준오의 돌잔치를 했다.

많은 사진을 찍었지만

사진을 편집하면서 내 마음은 이 사진에 기울었다.

 

아들의 시선은 내 카메라 렌즈를 향해 집중되는데

손자는 풍선만을 처다 본다.

 

살아가면서 사진을 찍는 일에만 집중하다 보면

이웃, 특별히 가까운 사람들의 시선이 어디에 머무는지 

놓지는 순간이 적지 않다.

 

이 사진을 보면서

나도 아내에게,

그리고 우리 아이들이 어디를 쳐다보는지

무심히 지나쳤을 때가 참 많았다고 반성한다.

 

미안하다.

참회한다.

 

부활절 아침에.

 

 

Gaze

Yesterday, we celebrated my grandson Juno’s first birthday.

I took countless photos,
but as I sifted through them,
my heart lingered on this one.

In the photo,
my son's gaze is fixed intently on my camera lens,
while my grandson’s eyes are wholly captured by a balloon.

As we go through life,
so absorbed in capturing moments through a lens,
there are many times when we fail to notice
where the eyes of those closest to us are truly resting.

Looking at this picture,
I find myself reflecting—
how often I must have carelessly overlooked
where my wife, and our children,
were turning their gaze.

I am sorry.
I repent.

On Easter morning.
