아침산책 - 천지창조

 

아침에 조금 늦게 일어났다.

전 날 밤은 장인 댁에서 묵었다.

침대에서 자라는 아내의 말을 듣지 않고 소파에서 자겠다고 우긴 덕에 제대로 잠을 이루지 못했기 때문이었다.

아내는 달리기 복장으로 침대에 누워 있는 나에게 함께 나가자고 제안을 했다.

나는 그냥 누워 있겠다고 했다.

그런데 바깥 하늘이 궁금해졌다.

어둠 속에서 지평선 부근에 붉은빛이 번지고 있었다.

용수철처럼 집 밖으로 나갔다.

바다 저편에는 이미 아침이 시작되고 있었다.

걸으면서 '천지창조'의 첫 부분을 묵상했다.

 

 1 한처음에 하느님께서 하늘과 땅을 창조하셨다. 

 2 땅은 아직 꼴을 갖추지 못하고 비어 있었는데, 어둠이 심연을 덮고 하느님의 영이 그 물 위를 감돌고 있었다. 

 3 하느님께서 말씀하시기를 “빛이 생겨라.” 하시자 빛이 생겼다. 

 4 하느님께서 보시니 그 빛이 좋았다. 하느님께서는 빛과 어둠을 가르시어, 

 5 빛을 낮이라 부르시고 어둠을 밤이라 부르셨다. 저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 첫날이 지났다. 

 

여명의 바닷가에서

천지창조의 첫 광경을 훔쳐보는 듯한 짜릿한 경험을 하다.

 

Morning Walk - The Creation of Heaven and Earth

I woke up a bit late in the morning.

The night before, I had stayed at my father-in-law’s house.

Despite my wife’s suggestion to sleep in bed, I stubbornly insisted on sleeping on the sofa—
which resulted in a restless night.

My wife, dressed in her running gear,
suggested that I join her as I lay in bed.
I told her I would just stay lying down.

But then, I became curious about the sky outside.
In the darkness, a reddish glow was spreading along the horizon.

Like a coiled spring, I leaped outside.
Beyond the sea, the morning had already begun.

As I walked, I meditated on the first part of The Creation of Heaven and Earth.

 

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 

The earth was formless and barren, and darkness covered the abyss 

while the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.

God said, "Let there be light!" And there was light. God sew that the light  was good,

              and he separated the light from the darkness. And he called the light day, 

              and he called darkness night.

              This was the evening and the morning of the first day."

 

I had a thrilling experience,
as if stealing a glimpse of the first scene of the creation of heaven and earth.
