세렝게티 국립공원에서 첫날 만난 동물들

세렝게티 국립공원은 거의 날것이라고 보면 된다.

사람들이 묵을 수 있는 숙소와 최소한의 편의 시설,

그리고 차가 다닐 수 있는 포장되지 않은 도로가 이곳에 가해진 사람 손길의 전부다.

아프거나 상처를 입은 동물을 구하지 않고 특별히 어떤 동물을 보호하려는 노력을 하지도 않는다.

자연 생태계를 자연에게 그냥 맡겨둔다는 것이다.

 

세렝게티 공항에서 우리를 맞은 가이드는 우리를 먼저 호텔로 안내를 했다.

공항에서 호텔까지 가는 길에 우리는 세렝게티 공원 안에 있는 

여러 동물들을 만났다.

 

그러나 나는 처음으로 야생에서 보는 동물들이 신기했지만

그것보다도 자연 풍경에 매료되었다.

특별히 사파리 차가 길 양 쪽의 풀밭을 지날 때면

여기저기 피어 있는 들꽃들 사이로

엄지 손톱만한 나비들이 놀라서 포로록 날아가는 모습이 보였는데

마치 디즈니에서 만든 만화영화의 한 풍경이 연상되었다.

 

나는 세렝게티 국립공원 방문을 통해서

동물적이기보다는 식물적인 면이 더 강한 사람인 걸 깨닫게 되었다.

 

 

Animals We Encountered on the First Day at Serengeti National Park

 

Serengeti National Park is almost in its rawest form.

The only signs of human intervention here are the accommodations where people can stay, minimal amenities, and unpaved roads that vehicles can travel on.

There is no effort to rescue sick or injured animals, nor is there any special attempt to protect certain animals.

The idea is to leave the natural ecosystem entirely to nature.

The guide who greeted us at Serengeti Airport first took us to our hotel.

On the way from the airport to the hotel, we encountered various animals within the Serengeti Park.

Although I was amazed to see wild animals in their natural habitat for the first time, I was even more captivated by the natural scenery.

Especially when the safari vehicle passed through the grassy fields on both sides of the road, I could see tiny butterflies, about the size of a thumbnail, fluttering away among the wildflowers blooming here and there.

It reminded me of a scene from a Disney animated movie.

Through my visit to Serengeti National Park, I realized that I am more of a plant person than an animal person.
