Penny's 백일 (큰 딸 facebook에서 옮겨왔습니다.)

In Korea, it is a tradition to celebrate a baby turning 100 days old. 

Because the survival rate for babies in infancy was low long ago, 

Korean babies were not taken outside until they were 100 days old. 

This was a sign that they would be healthy enough to survive.

Although we did not do all of the traditional things that are typical for a Korean 백일 (baek-il, translating literally to 100 days), 

we had my side of the family over. 

My dad, the forever photographer, captured candid moments throughout the day (you can see him in some of the mirror shots). 

My cousin Angelina making TikTok videos with some of the older “kids”, everyone loving on the baby, 

surprising my aunt Lucy by singing happy birthday (60!), 

and my grandfather falling asleep (it takes a lot of energy to create a family like this!). 

Having my family meet my new baby in my new home was just truly all kinds of wonderful. My heart is full!
