North Carolina의 유채꽃 

North carolina 어디쯤이었을 것이다.

봄맞이 여행을 조지아 주까지 갔다가 어디론가 이동할 때였다.

보슬비가 내렸다.

어두운 시골길을 달릴 때 갑자기 눈이 훤해졌다.

유채꽃이 낮은 언덕을 채우고 있었다.

 

무명이 유명이 되는 순간, 

 

"아" 하고 내 입에서 낮은 탄식이 흘러나왔다.

 

얼마 동안 더 가다가 방향을 돌려 유채꽃이 있는 곳으로 향했다.

"나는 왜 유채꽃을 좋아하는 걸까?"

긴 시간 이것으로 화두를 삼았지만 무명은 깊어만 갔다.

 

유채 밭 언저리에서 내 마음은 엷은 노랑과 초록물이 들었다.

 

유채꽃이 곧 부처다!

 

 

 

Canola Flowers of North Carolina
It must have been somewhere in North Carolina.

We were on a spring trip down to Georgia and moving on to another place.

A light drizzle was falling.

As we drove along a dark country road, the view suddenly brightened.

Canola flowers were covering the low hills.

A moment when the nameless becomes named.

---

A quiet sigh escaped my lips—"Ah."

After driving a bit further, we turned back toward where the flowers were.

“Why do I love canola flowers so much?”

I pondered this for a long time, but the unknowing only deepened.

Near the edge of the canola field,
my heart was dyed a pale yellow and green.

Canola flowers are none other than the Buddha!
