황홀했던 오늘 아침

황홀했던 오늘 아침

오늘 아침에는 Rockaway Running Group의 3 마일 달리기가 있는 날이다.

침대에서 몸을 일으키고 블라인드를 걷어 올렸다.

구름이 95%의 하늘을 덮고 있었다.

수평선 근처에만 희끄무레한 빛이 보였다.

 

집을 나섰다.

별로 춥지는 않았다.

Boardwalk를 달리다 보니 수평선 근처로 붉은빛이 보이기기 시작했다.

검은 구름 위로 붉은빛이 새어 나오는 것이 흡사 

수평선 저 너머에서 불이 난 것처럼 보였다.

 

그 순간에 세상에서 가장 원했던 것이

내 카메라였다.

그 황홀한 순간을 내 카메라로 기록하지 못한 것이 못내 아쉬웠다.

 

Barry와 Billy, 그리고 나 이렇게 셋, 아니 Billy의 반려견 Moose(?)까지 넷이서

황홀하게 밝아오는 Boardwalk를 달렸다.

그 황홀함 속을 달리는 기분을 어떻게 표현할 수 있을까?

Rockaway로 이사를 와서 좋은 친구들과 아름다운 풍경, 소중한 순간을

함께 나눌 수 있는 이 행복을 만끽한 아침이었다.

 

일찍 일어나 집 밖으로 걸어 나온 사람만이

그 행복을 느낄 수 있는 것이다. 

" The early bird gets the worm이라는 미국 속담이 있는데

함께 달리며 오늘 아침을 맞이한 우리가 바로 그 'early birds'인 것이다.

우리는 오늘 아침 그 황홀했던 순간을 잡을 수 있었다.

 

천천히 집에 돌아와 커피 한 잔을 내려 마시는데

눈발이 날리기 시작했다.

이른 아침의 그 황홀했던 순간을 덮어버리기라도 할 것처럼------- 

 

 

 

A Blissful Morning

This morning was the day for the Rockaway Running Group’s 3-mile run.

I got out of bed and pulled up the blinds.

The sky was covered 95% with clouds,
with only a faint light visible near the horizon.

I stepped out of the house.

 

It wasn’t too cold.

As I ran along the Boardwalk, a red glow started to appear near the horizon.
The red light leaking out above the black clouds resembled
a fire raging beyond the horizon.

At that moment, the thing I wanted most in the world
was my camera.
I deeply regretted not being able to capture that breathtaking moment with it.

 

Barry, Billy, and I—three of us, or rather four including Billy’s dog Moose(?)—
ran along the Boardwalk bathed in that dazzling light.
How can I describe the feeling of running through such splendor?

Since moving to Rockaway, I’ve enjoyed the joy of sharing beautiful landscapes, precious moments, and good friends.
It was a morning of pure happiness.

 

Only those who rise early and step outside their homes
can feel such bliss.
There’s a saying in America: “The early bird gets the worm.”
This morning, running together, we were those ‘early birds.’
We were able to catch that fleeting, glorious moment.

As I returned home slowly and brewed a cup of coffee,
snowflakes began to fall.
As if to cover up that radiant moment from the early morning—
