낯선 손님

며칠 밤잠을 설쳤다.

간밤엔 비교적 잘 잤다.

아침에 일어나 두려운 마음으로 시계를 보니 5 시 가량 되었다.

공연히 흡족한 기분이 들었다.

보통 두 세시에 잠을 깨서 나머지 새벽 시간을 어정쩡하게 보내기 마련인데

적당한 시간에 일어난 것이 어찌 그리 대견스러운지.

 

블라인드를 올리고 보니

유리창에 빗방울이 자글자글 맺혀 있었다.

참 낯이 설었다.

비를 본 것이 얼마만인지.

 

낯설고 반가운 비와 함께 시작하는 아침은 커피가 제격이다.

A Strange Guest

 

I’ve been struggling with sleepless nights for the past few days.

Last night, I slept relatively well.

When I woke up this morning, I nervously checked the clock—it was around five o’clock.

A strange sense of satisfaction washed over me.

I usually wake up at two or three in the morning and end up spending the rest of the dawn in a state of limbo.

But waking up at a reasonable hour somehow felt so commendable.

When I raised the blinds, I noticed tiny raindrops clinging to the window.

It felt so unfamiliar.

How long has it been since I last saw rain?
