오메가를 만나다

한국에서 사진 찍는 사람들 중 많은 분들이

해가 뜨는 장면을 찍기 위해 새벽 바다를 찾는다.

특별히 바다가 잔잔할 때

해가 수평선 위로 떠올라 해의 잔영이 바다에 비치는 모습을 만나려고 애를 쓴다고 한다.

그 순간 해와 그 잔영이 만드는 모양이 마치 오메가와 같다고 해서

오메가, 혹은 오 여사라는 애칭으로 부른다고 들었다.

 

오늘이 그런 날인 것 같다.

아무런 기대도 없이 거실 창 너머의 일출을 바라보고 있었는데

문득 오메가를 볼 수 있을 것 같은 예감이 들었다.

 

그런데 오늘이 그날이었다.

오여사를 알현한 날.

 

이렇게 별 노력도 없이 오 여사를 알현해도 되나? -----

 

Meeting Omega

 

Many photographers in Korea head to the seaside at dawn to capture the sunrise.

Particularly when the sea is calm, they strive to witness the moment the sun rises above the horizon,

casting its reflection on the water.

This phenomenon, where the sun and its reflection form a shape resembling the Greek letter Omega, has earned the nickname "Omega" or affectionately, "Lady O."

Today feels like one of those days.

Without any particular expectation, I was gazing at the sunrise beyond the living room window when I suddenly had a hunch that I might catch a glimpse of Omega.

And today was the day.

The day I had the privilege of meeting Lady O.

Can it be this easy to encounter her without much effort?
