A Kite Drawing in Vilnius
It was when I was aimlessly wandering around Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. As I strolled down a quiet alleyway, I came across some indistinguishable drawings on a wall that seemed like a mix of art and graffiti. Among them, there was a drawing of a kite. The kite had red polka dots, and the kite string was tied like a bow tie. Next to the drawing, whether written by the artist or someone else, were the words "LET IT GO."
A kite and its string might desire freedom from someone's grasp. This could reflect the hearts of the Lithuanian people, who once endured foreign rule. Perhaps, this sentiment and determination are shared by all oppressed people.
However, from a faith perspective, a kite can only soar freely in the sky when it is held by someone. A kite with a broken string not only fails to fly but also gets blown around by the wind, eventually crashing into a pit and meeting its ruin.
True freedom for the kite, paradoxically, is only achieved when it is held by an invisible hand.
