i am lucky to have been so loved by my 할머니 and that she had the opportunity to love my own kids. she lived joyfully and selflessly for her family. last night at the prayer service, the priest told us to carry on her legacy of sacrifice without a cost, without expecting anything in return, because our world today doesn’t teach us to do that.
my mom and her siblings brought her home from the hospital against the advice of the doctors and took turns providing around the clock care. the love she must have felt carrying out her last days in the comfort of her own home was because of the sacrifice of her kids. i hope i can model that for my kids too.
we are incredibly blessed to have had the time to prepare and say goodbye and everything else we wanted to say to her. because of that, i believe she was able to leave this world feeling content, knowing that we would miss her but that we would be ok. the amount of people that showed up to the funeral today is a testament to the impact she made in people’s lives. she loved us so well and she was truly loved in return.
sleep peacefully 할머니, we already feel the empty space in our hearts but we will carry on your legacy. 씩씩!
