식당의 오래된 가구의 설합 안에서 우연히 발견한

신문, 뉴욕 타임스에는 케네디 대통령의 암살 소식과 사진이 실려 있다.

지금, 우리에게는 그냥 오래된 신문을 발견한 호기심이 전부지만

그 신문을 처음 받아보았던 사람들의 충격은 어떠했을까?

시간과 함께 충격과 느낌도 붉어지고 바래어지는 것 같다.

The Story of Beakley House
A place where family gatherings are held during the year-end season,

Beakley House in Cragsmoor holds many things that have faded and softened with time.

On the third floor of the building, an early model telephone and fire extinguisher still hang on one side of the wall.

In the dining room, tucked away in the drawer of an old piece of furniture,
I stumbled upon an issue of The New York Times. It contained the news and photos of President Kennedy’s assassination.

For us now, it’s merely a curious discovery of an old newspaper,
but what kind of shock must the people who first read it have felt?
It seems even feelings and shocks fade and blur over time.
